Project #43 | Sun-Drenched Staircase

In collaboration with a respected DC area builder, we designed this striking floating staircase for a sun-drenched McLean residence. The design creates powerful visual contrast: crisp white wooden newel posts and balusters set against rich ebonized handrails and warm Brazilian cherry walnut treads that echo the home's hardwood flooring.

The floating design maintains the home's open living concept across all three levels, from basement to main floor to second story. Rather than dividing the space, the staircase becomes a sculptural element that connects and unifies, serving as a stylish focal point that draws the eye upward while preserving sightlines and natural light flow throughout.
